Parting out a Poverty - Case 911 Article

Anyone see the story about a guy who parted out a 69 911s, it was in this months Sport's Car Market.

Haven't read the whole story but he bought the car for 1K, sold all parts for 7K on ebay, took him six months to get it all done.

Michael

I just finished the article. Very interesting project. I recognize the seller as someone I tried to buy some parts from, for my '71 Targa. We traded several emails about interior parts he had for sale from a '71 Targa. It never went anywhere because he kinda dropped the ball and didn't respond to my last request. Oh well.

Speaking of my '71 Targa, turn to page p.56 and read Jim Schrager's article. I did and I about fell off my chair. I am the owner he talks about in 'Resto Blues'. Pretty funny to read about my ongoing saga with that car in print. As a follow up, my completed case was shipped to my mechanic two days ago. Fortunately I did not have to retreve it from the shop as Jim suggested.

Brian, glad your case got finished. I know you were sitting on pins and needles for awhile there. I'm sure it will turn out to be worth the wait.

Would'nt any 69 S fetch $7k as a whole if complete or mostly complete?

For a thousand bucks I think I would have kept it as an investment. I hope the car was really really far gone in this case.

Sounds like a good article, though I don't always agree with Schrager as he's not a fan of water-pumpers. I forgot the check the mail, I'll have to look in the box when I get home.
