injector spray pattern

I have an Electromotive programmable ignition/fuel system on a 92 Turbo twin plug. Lately it has been missfiring when cold, but eventually smooths out, but even then the #1 header pipe never seems to get as hot as the others. I have 2 head temp sensors installed that I rotate and they both check out. I don't think my warm up values are the problem. Pulled a couple of injectors and checked their spray pattern and one was slightly diff than the other but both were pretty much a straight pencil stream, no cone. Seimen 3102 55lb. Should these injectors exhibit a spray cone or is the pencil stream correct. That question is the main reason for this post.
Changed both DFUs. On another matter, is there a way to bench test these coils. Running them on the car you can see the dual poles arc but I don't know how specific is that test. I suspect something in the DME is not transferring a correct signal for warmup in a timely manner. Thanks, Bob
