I need alarm help!
 

I needed to disconnect my battery. Upon connecting it back, my factory alarm (for which I have NO key) is going off. Short of pulling the horn, what can i do?

leave the key in the on position when you plug the battery in. Try that.

NO!!!!!!!!! do not leave the key in the on position when you plug it back in. you can fry your DME!!!!!!

So what happens when the battery dies and you have to jump start the thing? That, is infinitely worse, but happens every day somewhere.

Only other thing I can think of is tugging the fuse that ties into it. You sure it's not an aftermarket? The horn is going nuts and not a siren somewhere? From what I understand the master key should disable it..

I should have been more clear. The alarm is factory (my owner's manual references it as an option) and the horn for the alarm is attached to the front subframe next to the steering rack. I could get under there and disconnect wires but I would rather not. Several items need to be removed to get there.

Remove the cover in the trunk over the fresh air blower. The alarm brain (larger black box) is under/behind the fresh air blower box next to the intermittent wiper relay (the smaller black box). Remove the connectors from the box and you should be OK.

According to my owners manual, (Mine's an 81 - I know you're an 85 but it's all I have in front of me) is that it can only be activated by a special key - guess it's not the one for the ignition. In other words, unless you specifically turned it on before you started this whole thing it's probably not it.

Not to second guess but are you sure it's not an aftermarket? an LED on the dash, or any odd toggle switches anywhere, or extra fuses around the battery?

If you see any odd hidden butons or switches that aren't factory, turn the car to on and hit the button...

It is fixed. I am really a dumb a#% some times. I just hooked the battery back up, ran and started it up and once she turned over it shut off in about 2 seconds.
