911 Owners in Colorado

Hi All. I just purchased a beautiful 84' with 57k miles and would like to know of other knowledgeable 911 owners in Colorado. Specifically, is there a service shop that someone can recommend to go over the vehicle more closely than my initial examination?

Also any clubs or other groups out there that can provide a bit of advice (Denver and northern Colorado). I'd like to learn more about doing general maintenance myself.

I have already learned a lot on this forum and look forward to more interesting insights.

Thanks!
Chris Bell

welcome,
I know there are a few guys on the board in Colo...I am from Colo but have not lived there in 18 years. There is a great track in Pueblo to run on and the pca guys are pretty active. Enjoy.

I just came back from Coloroda for a week. I was around downtown and the seminar was at the convention center.

I was always out of the hotel.....7 days, I saw 2 Porsches. I guess I am just used to seeing a lot of them in West Los Angeles.

Beautiful city, though.

Hey Chris, couldn't sleep so here I am. I live in Ft. Collins and take my car to Poudre Sports Car just up the street from me. Though I now work on my car alot I still need a good mechanic. Stephen is the owner and mechanic there, I recommend you take your car there.

July 31st at Redline Motorsports will be a car show/dyno day if your interested in going. There will alot of different cars there but I doubt too many Porsches if any. In any case it will be a good time. Nice car,

Brent

Congratulations on your purchase. I second Poudre Sports Car. I've taken my '77 there for a PPI and one other item I couldn't figure out myself.... There seems to be a couple of other folks from the FC area but lots more from Denver/Boulder/Aurora. Nice looking car!

You are going to get a lot of comments since there is quite a few places here in Denver. Couple of thoughts:

1) We have a very active Porsche club. You can almost find a place to race every weekend or at least some type of event. But the club is more than just racing. The link is: www.pca.org/rmr
2) There are many reputable shops in Denver. I work on my own however I've talked with the guys at Eurosport and Storz. Bosche Foreign LTD is a new one to me so I don't know much about them but need to check them out. Eisenbud's is another one that gets high marks from the folks. Up in Fort Collins, I've heard good things about Poudre
3) If you need used parts, and some new, check out DART auto. Since I have totally rebuilt mine, I've used them a lot for used parts. I typically use our sponsor for the big orders but when I need a part quick, DART is always a good source instead of waiting on the mail.
4) There are a lot of Porsche's in Colorado, but probably not nearly as many as California. Not sure what the per capita number would be. We're probably higher than California on SUVs. But then, we have this thing here called snow (just busting CAB83's chops).

Chris,
Congratulations on the "new" Porsche ! Looks like you found a very nice Carrera.

Any of you front-rangers have experience with On The Edge Performance in Colorado Springs? I need some susp. work done this summer & have been considering this shop.

Congratulations. I hope you have many happy miles ahead of you. I have had good results with Eurosport and Eisenbud. PM me if you want to know anything specific.

Chris,

First, welcome to Porsche ownership in Colorado. While many of us lose a couple of months a year to the white stuff and subsequent mag cloride, I think you'll find that there are tons of opportunities to drive your new car.

The first thing I did after getting a 911 about four years ago was to join the local PCA. I'm not usually a "club guy" but this is really a great bunch of people and I now consider some of my best friends to be ones I've met through the PCA. I started out doing Driver's Education events and then moved up to Club Racing with them. I think we in Colorado have more DE's than just about any other region with five local tracks to chose from. You really can do a driving event almost every weekend during the summer if you have the inclination and the time.

There is a Driver's Ed this weekend at Second Creek Raceway if you are interested. If you're not sure yet, just come by and check it out. I'll probably be instructing on Saturday and would be glad to show you around (either in the car or just via introductions.)

We are also very fortunate to have a large choice of great local shops that are very willing to give advice or do the work for you. Storz (Bob, Mike and Harry), Eisenbud's (John), and Eurosport (Greg) are all great. I have heard good things about Poudre Valley up north but since I live south of Denver I have no personal experience there. For used parts or race prep, Dave at Dart Auto will help you out.

Anyway, come to a PCA event. Meet some other friendly enthusiasts and have a great time with your car.

If you need any advice, feel free to get contact me, I know 911s pretty well. stiqman@comcast.net

Take care,

Jess

Everyone else has covered the PCA positives here in Colorado and there are many of those positives. I am curious if you are coming over from the Audi realm? Or as Jess calls it, the four rings of despair. I remember meeting a Chris Bell who was very active with Audis and help set up an Audi gathering at Pikes Peak Hill Climb back in '98 --might that be you?
Nice ride incidently. Hang out with Jess, Quigs or myself enough and we might be pulling your engine next winter to put on SSIs or replace the clutch....

Hi Chris I'm looking forward to seeing you around the streets in Windsor(I'll be in the Silver Targa). I'm also very active in the PCA of Colorado. What a great bunch of people. The driving events are very safe, informative and fun.

I love working on my 81SC so if you need help just drop me a line. When I choose not to do my own work I highly recommend Poudre Sports car. Steven really knows Porsche and you can't go wrong taking your car there.

E-mail me at scottr@wirestone.com if you need any help

Welcome to the Club!
