Injector Sleeve problem

What kinds of problems will a split sleeve indicate?

It did not show up by squirting carb cleaner into the port. Showed itself as a miss between 2200 and 3000 rpm under load. The injector had a new seal on it probably put there by one of the well meaning mechanics that did not look at what they were doing when the injectors were pulled and cleaned for the PO. The same mechanic who told the PO he thought the O2 sensor on the 79SC was causing the problem!!!!!! Car does not go back there anymore.:(

Those seals are pretty easy to replace and (for me) made a difference in my idle as they were collectively creating a vacuum leak.

Pulled the sleeve. If all works you can see the crack. I used a 12mm tap that I screwed into the sleeve. When the sleeve began to turn i added finger up pressure and out it came. Had to remove the strakes put there to keep the sleeve from coming out.

I see you've had some sucess!

Yup, also installed new injectors. Plan to replace the rest of the sleeves when I pull the engine this fall. It runs a lot better with the new injectors but I still have a miss. May be electric after all. Coil sick? maybe?

My guess is on bad plug wires.

John, just a thought:
I had a problem with the little green coax pickup wire for the distributer.
It's a tight bend comming out of the distributer.
I ended up replacing mine.
The one I needed was actually a part for a 924 or 944.
Much cheaper then the harness you'd have to buy for a 911.
Call me for details if you go there.

Great minds flow in the same direction. Today, Mat made the same suggestion. Plan to do a test tomorrow after I install a new rotor button I got form Pelican.:)
