the Ebay car has a tornado trans and axles. that is why it is in the bach seat. the average conversion puts it in the same location as the p engine. also the radiator scoop/ vent can fog the front window the way that it exits.....bad Idea. here is a nice conversion with fuel injection (zz4 crate motor)

I don't care as long as the fit/finish are excellent...I'd probably never do an american V8, although I would consider the Subaru WRX which would give me 280hp/280lbs stock and this could be boosted, etc. up to 600hp... from what I've seen with the Subaru setup, there is no chopping of the 911 chasis, etc. This is a huge consideration... if we want to get critical the 914, 924, and Pepperwagon V6 aren't "Porsche" engines either :p what kills me is that some people would say "great job" if someone put a 3.0 SC engine into a VW, etc. but turn their nose up at it if in reverse (no offense intended to those of you who may have already stated this) :D I'm a purist at heart...I like my 911SC with it's original engine, when I do buy a 65/66 Mustang Fastback someday, it will need it's original/period-correct engine too...otherwise, IMO, it's not worth the money... my motto is, "to each his own"...it's their driver...I, for one, do not care for the roll-cage, the funny hood lights, the weekend racer guys 911...but hey, to each his own...I love the 911 either way... so when I "butcher" my 911SC CIS with PMO's or EFI, replace my bumpers, etc. I'll keep them for the purist just in case I sell...one guy could care less, another may... When I see a chopped up 911 with a V8 done horribly wrong (mostly on eBay), or I see someone total their 911 at DE/AX it hurts either way... I better stop rambling :o |
It's just wrong! Look at the prices of early Jags converted to Chevy power. Now a Jag is a car that could USE the conversion and it is STILL wrong. They sell for less than the cars with the old outdated, oil leaking, always failing, Lucas wired cars.

Can't explain it. Just a feeling.
P-engine in non P-car = cool. Non-P-engine in P-car = mutant. Nuthin' rational about it, just personal preference. Someday....(dreaming a bit here)....I'll have a VW type 181 "Thing" with a weber'd Porsche 3.2.....and I'll smoke a Cayenne....yeah....a turbo S Cayenne!! That's the ticket!! |

I have not only one but TWO Porsches here with no Porsche engines in it, one Chevrolet 327, one with SAAB 2.3 turbo.
Itīs just a hobby, merely for fun. The Porschev was a nearly rotten 912, the other 911 was nearly perfect 911 but itīs a SC. |

If you know what I mean. Without the engine setup, I would not have bothered with such a pommy heap of bolts. Nice diff though. |

The 63 Bug Here are some vids... Drive-By shot running a Super Turbo Shifting into 4th with a Flowmaster installed Good Launch Makin Noise That motor is now in my 74 914 (Must have had some Porsche content... :) ) Later! Tom |
Converted coupes here go for $3 to $5 grand. yeah that diff is great street rod stuff. Saw one that was totally chrome once..very impressive!

I would NEVER put anything but a Porsche 911 engine in a 911. For some reason putting a chevy V8 in a P-car makes me sick, in my book it basically sucks. It's lost it's heart.
Just sayin. |
