Cost To Replace Rear Section of Cabriolet Top?

I hear it's possible to replace just the rear window and surrounding fabric of my '88 Cabriolet top, without replacing the entire top.

Is this true and if so, how much should it cost for parts and labor to replace it? Mine has a small tear in the plastic window.

Yes , you can replace the back half but you need to make sure the front half will last as long as your new part . It would be cheaper in the long run to replace the intire top rather than doing it in sections . Why are you replacing just the back half , if it is to replace the window itself you can have new window sewn into your existing rear section depending on condition.

The rear and front pieces have a lot of adhesives that are used on the joint where they meet, I am not sure the fabric would stand up to tearing it apart and then trying to put it back together again, I agree with Jim about replacing the entire top. The cost of just removing the rear section would be almost as much as to do the entire top as it is the hardest part of the new install. I replaced mine 2yrs ago, after I found out how much the shops around here wanted to charge, I did it by myself, it almost drove me insane, a real PITA!!! I am happy with it but is was a lot of work to get it right, I don't know that I would replace it again myself. Good luck.

Hmm...ok. So all I really need is the rear window replaced. Sounds like that's doable separately. Any idea of the cost for just the window replacement?

Having done an entire top on an '88 I would agree whole-heartedly with the above comments. Do the entire top if the rear section has a problem.
Good luck,

I just had the rear window replaced on mine, cost me $400 p/l. A complete new top would have been ~$1600 p/l.
