Need help taking out carb airbox and heater/ac problemo

There are these hoses connected to the back. What are they for and how can I detach them?

Also the AC compressor along with the condensor has been removed what other parts belonging to the ac system can go bye bye? Supposedly, in Virginia you have to at least have a working heater in the car to be street legal so Im afraid to mess too much with the whole ac/heater system without advice.

First, go to an A/C shop to remove excess freon from the system, then follow the lines throughout the car and remove whatever is attached to them.

There are one or two lines connected to the air filter housing: one is a breather hose from the oil filler tube; the second is a short drain hose for excess oil that is drawn through that breather hose.

so can I just use a catchcan and/or a breather filter instead of attaching a tube to the airbox?

Unless you're pushing a lot of blowby (and oil) into the filter housing, you can leave it alone. If you find you need one, yes, install a catch tank onto the filler tube. You have a choice of venting to atmosphere through a filter element or plumbing the separated vapors back to the intake.
