OIL PRESSURE SENDER /gauge compatability

My oil pressure reads very high 100 to 140 idles at 60, I have had some problems with oil leaking past my turbo charger seals out the exhaust side and have tried many things to resolve it.
I just ordered a set of new oil relief springs and pistons, but upon removal of the ones in my engine they looked ok and in speck.
If my gauge is right, high oil pressure supplying the turbo could be supplying it faster than it can drain into the sump and be the cause of the problem.

The engine is a 79 sc 3.0 with the stock sender, and the combo gauge is from an early 911. If the sender and gauge are compatible and my oil pressure is really that high, it could explain the oil leak, if my readings are incorrect then I must search elsewhere for the problem.

I know I will need to tap a mechanical gauge into the oil line to verify the true pressure, but wanted to know if anyone else has had the same experience with senders and gauges.

chappy,

I have suggested this before ...

I think it would be easier to get a 1/4" threaded cast iron pipe 'Tee' and solder/braze/weld an M10 x 1.00 nut to one end, reducer to 1/8" pipe thread for Stewart Warner 150 psi mechanical oil pressure gauge to the other end, and a quick-disconnect air chuck fitting to the middle ... and test your sender by appying air pressure from a regulator. A couple of 24" alligator clip test leads could extend your gauge wiring out to the bumper area for testing of the sender. Much easier than trying to modify your engine oil plumbing!!!
