Removing broken lug nut help
I am having a heck of a time removing a broken lug nut. I did as suggested on here and used a 3/4" hole saw and sawed into the lug. How deep are you supposed to go? I have most of the treads gone and it still won't budge.

saw thru until the remains come loose, then pick the remaining threads out of the steel stud with a small sharp punch.

What about drilling some small shallow relief holes and using a pointed punch/big hammer to spin the rest off?
The stud is expendable but the dish of the wheel isn't so it'll be tricky. The aluminum lugnut will be softer than the steel stud. From your previous thread, my advice would be don't have anyone sit in a car on jackstands, break the lugs loose on the ground before jacking up, and use the factory jack points. |
