the trailing arms can remain on the car for replacement? i thought i recall that the old/new bushing/monoball need to be pressed in and out?

im close to getting underway with my suspension rebuild and i have to this point not planned on doing the control arm bushings. i know, i know i should while im in there. i guesw my question is,, can i replace them by just dropping the front of the control arm and pressing out the existing bushing with say a C-clamp? and replacing them in the same fashion?

It is easier to do on the bench, but you can replace the bushings with the arms still in the car. A C clamp won't do it though.

The rubber is easy to get out, but it will leave a metal sleeve behind. The sleeve is pressed in and harder to remove. It is actually two peices, one pressed in from each side. You drive it out using a chisel at the parting line. This is the hard part - It takes some work to drive out when you have the arm in a bench vice, but it's harder when you're on your back under the car and the trailing arm is supported at one end only.

If you can't get it out, you can also use a hack saw to slice it, but be very carefull not to cut the AL trailing arm. Once sliced, it's easy to drive out.

I don't know much about Konis Frank, but all shocks wear out and I can't imagine a guarantee against wear. But it's certainly worth asking Koni.
