How are center console switches mounted?
I just converted my 89 930 from some kinda factory one off center console for a CD/player to the factory stubby center console. Problem is, I didn't get whatever plate is used to mount the switches. How are the A/C, Flasher, and rear defroster switches mounted to the little stubby center console?
Also, in the process, I broke the funky electromechanical A/C control switch. Does the little diaphragm thingie on top disconnect from the switch? I guess I need to get a new switch. I'd almost rather have no center console. The stubby one is better but I still hit my right leg on it. Don't the early style cars have no console? I wonder where I could relocate the switches. Anyone done this? |
I have the wiring harness and knobs from my '83 SC available if you need the parts. They are rotary switches for the temp control and fan speed and all the wiring behind them. Just let me know via pm.

I'd love the switch, if you don't mind. I'll send you a pm. I'll probably try keeping the lower center console and adjusted pedals first, but may strip it all the way out if it bugs me and I can figure out where to put the A/C switches.

I like the idea of making a piece to locate them where the ashtray resides. It's not far from the original location (meaning you may not have problems with the temp sensing tube being too short - VERY important!), and if you do it right, it'll look factory.

Sounds like an interesting idea. Know anyone who has gone that route?
