A nice minor design detail
One of the reasons I really enjoy working on my old '75 is that it seems to have been designed for ease of assembly and maintenance (unlike a 300ZX Turbo I briefly owned, which was hellish to DIY).
The aftermarket billet sump plate from Pelican has a really nice feature that Porsche either left out intentionally, or which was just invented recently. The replacement studs for the sump cover feature built-in 3mm recesses for a hex wrench. With the Porsche engine using so many studs, why do you think this hex feauture was not used? PS - the billet plate is very nice, and the included 3mm hex key doubles as a backup CIS mixture tool! ![]() ![]()

Are those studs out long enough to contact the "locking part" of the nut?

Yes, I backed the studs out a little after the picture so they would lock better.

I like it, nice touch.
Do you notice any reduction in oil temp or is this just wishful thinking on my part? |

How come this didn't bring out all scientists, physicists, and optimists and pessimists?

I read it. That counts for 2 of the above.
BTW, it's good to hear that physicists are no longer considered to be scientists. |
