seat cover replacement help needed

I have a '83 911SC and want to recover the front leather seats (after the years of wear and tear) and am wondering if anyone has any experience with the aftermarket leather replacement seat covers. Are they equal to the original leather seat material, are they easy to work with, or should I look for a quality shop to recover them. Any suggestions are appreciated.
