Angry my brakes are still pulling!!

i have a 83 911sc in great shape, when i bought it the brakes pulled dangerously to the right under medium to moderately heavy breaking, in rain, forgetaboutit!!!!!!!! Anyways, i replaced the passenger side caliper and solved a little of it, then replaced the drivers side, all with rebuilt calipers....after all this it corrected the problem but not totally it still pulls to the right. Can anyone help me with suggestions?? thks Damian

Did you do an alignment with the car ? also check the wheelbearings on both wheels would be my first guess. Hope it works out for you Damian.

You may need to replace the brake line hoses. THey can get old and hard and not handle the brake fluid pressure the same as the other side.

thks ed and drew, to the best of my knowledge the alignment seems ok as well as the bearings. i have new pirelli tires and have checked the pads, thought maybe someone had them mismatched, but the only thing i can wonder is like drew said, maybe the brake lines. Can the master cylinder be my problem, can it cause it to malfunction in that manner??thks Damian

maybe the hard brakelines from the caliper to the rubberhose are bad ? Easy and cheap to repair and it won,t hurt anyway. I hope brake guru Bill Verburg will chime in and give you some tips you are right about the alignment offcourse it only happens under braking you wrote, sorry my bad.

Cheers,

Ed

If the brake hoses on your car are original then its worth changing them anyway. The only reason that a hard line would cause you problems would be due to an obstruction in the line itself. While that is certainly possible it is not very likely. I have had other cars that have had the same symptoms that you describe and the solution was always in the brake hose or the caliper. Since you have just gone through the calipers, replacing the hoses on both sides would most likely solve your problems. Good luck, Chuck

Look at all the possibilities including alignment...even bad corner balance.
Also..the soft brake lines swell from the inside..and don't "release" very well if over 10 years old...change these as was stated.
Did you change out all 4 locations..or just fronts?
Rebuilt?.... how "free moving" were the pucks as you installed pads?...or were they precharged with pads. If pre-charged, how do you know how well "rebuilt" they are with regard to free travel or other issues that could still lead to pulling??

Don't forget tie rod ends might be suspect too.

Have you tried to bleed the LF brake again? That fixed my pulling right problem last time.
