new windshield do's & don't's?
My very original 87 rec'd a great bulls eye on friday.
Any words of advice on having the glass shop replace the windshield? ..... I have full glass coverage and will have the shop order the part from the dealer. This shop is real picky and changed the windshield on my benz as well. No issues to date.

I assume you get a brand-new gasket too? If not, buy one.
You shouldn't have any issues.

If you want the 'cleaner' look, have them install a 964 windshield and trimless 964 windshield seal.
I have this set-up on my '87, and it was a 10 minute install. (Thanks to Peter at Rennspeed Motorsports) Either way get a NEW Factory gasket, no cheap aftermarket gaskets.

If you look at the gasket on your '87 from outside the car you'll see a metal rim in the center of the gasket all of the way around. The 964 gasket is just smooth rubber, no metal rim. A much cleaner look, but it requires the 964 glass and the 964 gasket. The one thing that I'm not sure about is if the 964 windshield has the antenna or if you'd have to add an external ('87 has the antenna in the glass, right, I know '88 does).

Is there a benefit, beyond cosmetic, to 911, 964, or 993 glass?
