Crazy AC oil cooling idea
In my 78SC, there is a nice radiator on the engine trunk that is used as a heat exchanger for the AC system. The AC is totally inefficient, and I have no plans on making it work ever. On the other hand, my engine is running too hot, and I have to do something about it. So, I am just curious: has anybody ever considered the idea of expanding the oil circuit through this radiator ? Does it make any sense, or is it just another crazy idea? Does anyone see any major reason why that could not be done ?

(ac condensor?) i think the orifices are too small, and you would heat up the air in the compartment which would make the car run warmer anyways. take it off, and let the air go thru unhindered.

Thanks. That makes sense, and it is much simpler to do !

That brings my next question: Has anybody seen an effect of complete AC removal on engine temperature ?

BUUUUT... maybe you could relocate it and use the ac condensor as a massive front mount oil cooler...

The passages are too small in an A/C condenser to use as an oil cooler. You need an .... oil cooler. It takes energy to drive the A/C compressor (added load). If the condenser is in the engine compartment, you add to the heat load from the hot air coming off of the condenser.
