ALMS at Sears Point Today
Took my 11yo Daughter to the Grand Prix at Sears Point today (no, I won't say Infineon Raceway). My first time at the Point and for that matter, at any race. WOW! I pulled in, asked if there was a Porsche Corral, and got primo parking. Here's a shot of the corral and a couple of cool license plates (plus a GT3):

You can just walk around the pit area...
My little girl in front of Intersport Racing's Lola: ![]() (Thought about taking a picture of the "Racer Girl" girls - but somehow with my daughter there, it didn't seem right... But holy cow!) J3 Racing: ![]() Racer's Group GT3 RSR coming into the Pit: ![]() Flying Lizard GT3 RSR ![]() BAM GT3 RSR ![]() The J3 Racing RSR passed the Carsport America Viper in the corner: ![]() The sounds are unreal. From the throaty 'vettes, the tear of the 550, the grumble of the Panoz to the German Philharmonic in the GT3's it was just music to my ears. Nice way to spend a couple of hours - with my little girl at the track...

as much as I love p-cars, the sound of the 550s is intoxicating.
So did your daughter like the racket? Calvin complains sometimes, but he always wants to go back. |

I hope my daughter enjoys car racing, like yours does.

She really likes riding in the Porsche - and it seems it rubbed off going to the track. Lots of it was "special Dad and Daughter day" too. But I kept the time at the track short (wished I remembered the ear plugs though) and she seemed to really enjoy it.
I agree Todd - nothing sounds like a 12 cylinder Ferrari. It's very visceral. I didn't care for the sound of the Panoz. The 'vette makes me think of 8 jugs chugging up and down - very throaty. And the high RPM Lolas are close to F1 sounds. An aural delight today. On the way back home there are some incredible twisty roads - I took a spirited drive through the countryside to hear my daughter scream, "I love it when I get to ride in the Porsche!" I just moved from Irvine about 3 months ago. How's SoCal doing?

well, we're on fire again. Housing prices have likely doubled in the 3 months you've been gone. And traffic is bad. So same as usual...

Housing prices are on the decline for the first time in many years, no major correction, just people looking for a good deal with higher interest rates.

I'm watching it right now on TV.
Looks like Dale Jr. is going to be OK, scary pictures of that wreck. Maybe turning right is harder than we thought? |

Just watched it. Great stuff! That to me is real auto racing.
Dale Jr. looked unconscious when his car exploded around him. Does anyone know if he was? Scary! The Cort Wagner pedal work was cool. I love that Audi. That thing is a beast. The Lambo was cool, too.
