88l' 911 - should this hang down so far?

We have only owned our little 88' cab for a couple months now. This is my first Porsche and I have looked at many pics of your beautiful cars and wonder if this part in the front of my car (I am guessing it is the oil cooler) hangs down farther than normal. Is it really hanging down too far? Or is it normal and I am noticing it more because my car does not have the spoiler piece installed on it? I noticed I really have to be careful coming out of driveways and watching speed bumps.

A couple pics:

I put the car on the lift tonight and we will put it in the air on Sunday when my hubby returns from racing. Do we need to look into this?

Thanks for your advice!

Mary

I think that's a guard bar for your underbody AC condenser. Looks normal to me.

Thanks, I feel better now knowing it looks normal and it isn't something I should worry too much about. I just searched the Haynes service manual and found nothing referring to it. Was just pulling out the factory manuals too. I guess I am not your average woman driver

I have one of those too. The records show mine had an A/C guard put on (and new condensor) after the PO took out the A/C condenser on a parking lot stopper thing. I need to slow down for the driveways too, but that's the only thing I can manage to slow down for. ha. You can see mine at the top of this page:

Ultimate Targa Thread!

My guard needs to be painted cuz I still smack the driveways sometimes.

A really nice car you have by the way.

Ah, makes sense now if it is an option as to why I didn't see it on all cars of my year range. Mine has been dented by the PO and is missing some paint. I bought some flat black paint and have it on my "project" list for the little p-car. The PO used it as a daily driver so I have done lots of little cosmetic projects including lots of waxing and fine detailing.

Thanks for the quick advice and compliments on the car. I am really loving the car and enjoying the heck out of driving it!
