Yep! BMW is PC-ing entire tubs, as is a race shop near me. Exterior finish is still traditional paint systems due to appearance issues.

I saw a truck that some guy had Rhino Lined instead of painted. Weird stuff that comes along with technology...

Someone on this Board had his entire 911 chassis powdercoated a while back. Probably can find it with a search. It looked great!

Check out Autometrics website. They recommend this approach.

There are so many different powder coat finishes nowadays.
Flat finishes, shiny finishes, Metallic, Candy etc... check out my brothers company, they do powder coating. He may be able to answer many questions concerning powder coating. www.sycipdesigns.com Hope this helps |

Powder coating the tub is the way to go. However there a number of issues to deal with... a good powder coater is very important, sand blast vs. acid dip, removal of under coating, the car leaking sand for YEARS, acid bubbling etc.!
Here is a picture of my recently powdercoated RSR Clone. We had the body panels painted after powder coat. As with any type of finishing, it is only as good as the prep work. Its a labor intensive job, but IMO worth the results. Mine was primed with a powdercoat zinc rich primer, sanded then color...2 coats. good luck! ![]() |
