Speedometer Cable Length Question
Does anyone know the correct lengh for 911 speedometer cables. I am considering having a new one made and the people at the shop doing the job seem to know what kind of ends to put on it but want to know the lenght.
Thanks for informed responses.

You can use 901 741 111 01 (this part is available), which is the substitute for 901 741 112 01 the current part number for that car. According to the info I have the cable is 2442mm long.

Learned something the hard way last Fall about the cables. Seems that the one available for early cars is slightly longer than the original one. The slack from the extra length must be spread out equally between the attachment points. In other words, don't just stick on there and let the extra length find a home. If it is not equal, it will snap within 100 miles.

My math is terrible, does that make it 244 cm long?

Okay. I guess the 901 has a different connection than the 915s. On the 915 there is no place to store the extra on the tranny side since it goes straight into the tunnel. If you pulled it back some there you would have one heck of a kink

I have a new one in my garage labeled 90174111101 (64-76 911) that I purchased a while back. It is about a foot longer than that at about 109 inches or about 2768 MM. The label is handwritten, so the part number/fitment may be incorrect.
