How does one put SC-Flares on an SWB car

Hi all,

Beautiful day here in SoCal, hope all you Pelicans are enjoying your summer.......

I own a SWB 1968 that has unflared "rear" fenders......Any oneout there with experience in putting SC flares on a SWB ?

Bob Tilton?......Can you help me on this one?

thanx,

It's really not very hard at all. Use the rear bumper to determine the placement of the flare over the wheel/tire and attach in the preferred method.

KevinP73....

Excuse my ignorance........But won't the the sc fender not fit since the wheelbase was moved.......or are you talking about buying just flares that weld onto my existing fenders?..........If so please direct me to the site where I would buy them...

thanx,

As long as you center the new flares over your wheel/tire everything else should fall into place. The rear of your flare should line up very close if not right on the leading end of your rear bumper. Although the flare will be "wider" than your bumper you'll correct this by changing to a R or an RS style rear bumper. Or you can modify your bumper to match the flare. I wouldn't be too concerned with the torsion bar hole as the torsion bar has a lot of "play" in it if you ever need to change it. The general contour of the new flare should match fine with the quarter panel on the car.

Or plan "B". Drive south to L.A. Drop car at shop of experienced fool with electric saw and torch. Spend several days at the Spearmint Rhino (BRING LOTS OF SINGLES). Pick up car when completed. Drive home Happy !!

that wheel just keeps turning don't they svonkampen. always interested to read where you're taking your car. i can't really help you out on this one. i don't have SC flares but i probably have the only SWB car with LWB flares on all f corners - thanks to the previous owner. very R like? it allows me to run deep 6s on 205/60s with 1 inch spacers on the rear.

Flares on a SWB always look out of place. Are you looking to run more tire?

confession time: when i bought the car i didn't realize it was flared. it took me a few months to finally come to the conclusion that my car was far from original - yes i was that naive. when i found out i was pissed cause i wanted to restore it back to original. at the time i didn't know anyone with an early car and didn't belong to any Gruppes. i was a loner with my porsche.

Try to swing a deal with Bob. If that doesn't work out call me at the shop we'll talk prices.
