Can I carry 4 tires in my car?

I want to order 4 new Yokohama ES100 from the Tire Rack and have them installed locally. Will I be able to carry them in my 79 SC or will I have to carry them with my wife's car?

Have them shipped directly to the tire installer.

I'd have them delivered straight there as well, but you can carry four tires in the Pcar. One in the front, one in the passenger seat, and two on the rear shelf. Use garbage bags.

I live in Canada and do not want to have them delivered to the installer. I live a short distance from the border and will take them myself across the border. This will save me a substantial amount on shipping costs and brokerage fees.

I had mine shipped to my house, then took the new tires and the old rims to the tire store in the back of my minivan (A truck or an SUV will work just as well, however). I'm not keen on the idea of some 18 year old tire store yahoo put my 911 on a lift. I like the oil lines un-crushed, thanks. I'd recommend doing the same.

I will have them installed by a local shop that specializes in high end cars. They handle Porsches on a regular basis. These people are more expensive but I prefer to play it safe.

they will fit
I haul my autox tires/wheels to local events. One under the hood, one in the passenger seat, two in the back. Just put them each in a garbage bag to keep your interior clean and you'll be just fine.

Speaking of transport: I met a guy at autox this weekend who was tossing his monsterous Kinesis wheels (275/305) into his Carrera for the trip home. Same position in the car, same garbage bag setup.

The answer is YES. Two stacked in the back with the seats folded down, one on the passenger seat sitting on end (tread), and one in the trunk. If you have a strut tie bar, you can only fit a 205/55 under the bar (and it's still a squeeze)

I second the yes answer. Just bought the same tires and carried all 4 to the shop for install. I put 1 205 in the trunk, 2 in back in 1 in front seat.

Jack and Tyson were able to carry all this including themselves in one car, four tires will not be a problem.

The wheels were on a rack, but still amazing.

If you remove the passenger seat you can carry two 285/40-15 + two 235/50-15 tires without any problems.
Only takes a few minutes to remove the seat...
Well worth it since you won't be able to carry a passenger anyway. Much easier to load/unload the tires.

Why not have them installed in the US and drive them home? Wouldn't that solve the border shipping and brokerage fees? I'm sure someone on this board could make a nearby installation recommendation.

Anyone.... Beuller.....Beuller?
