911 overheating problem?!?

Hi all!

Sweaty brit suffering from niggly overheating problem - need help if anyone can - getting desperate!!

Have owned my 93' C2 911 cab for over a year now and have travelled a lot through some hot parts of Europe without the car missing a beat or overheating.

Have recently have had major overheating issues. I have tried upgrading to Castrol RS oil, fan/blower runs on as per norm after stopping.

Does anyone have experience of similar probs or know where i should start addressing this?

Many thanks

John

Did you park it over the winter? Could be rodents built a nest on top of the cylinders on one or both sides. Maybe something got sucked up against the oil cooler.

yes, check for rodents. Those nests can cause some serious problems if not caught soon enough.

The internal thermostat could be non functional. I had this problem with my car. I'm not sure if your car has one. It is a pain to R&R with the engine in. Check the discussion board for testing. It's essentially boiling it to see if it opens up.

The oil is an important coolant in these cars. Check your oil coolers, the oil circuit for kinks and the fans and such for the fender cooler if your car has one.

Best to you solving it,

As oneblueyedog suggests check all oil lines. If the car was lifted incorrectly, an oil line may be pinched.

Check your distributor drive belt.
