				Rubber Shortage????

Many have commented on the Kuhmo Victorracer shortage. I placed an order with Tire Rack and figured I'd wait. They called and said it would be 10-12 weeks. I also ordered some Yoko AVS ES100's. They backordered them and then called and said 8-10 weeks. So last night in bed I open the new Panorama and quickly see a Kuhmo, Yokohama and Tire Rack add. I'm rather disgusted. On the plus side, I bought some AVS Sports for another $150, and they look SWEEET! John

When I first read the topic, I thought my side action would have to stop.

I've been looking high and low - nothing. So what would be a good alternative track tire, available in 315/35-17 and 245/45-16? Other than A032R's

Yeah, Kuhmo recently acknowledged a defect on one of my Victoracers(VRs) and the company themselves can not even located one to send me as a replacement! Nuts and more so. Looking at alternatives, TireRack has Avon Tech R type now on their website. They are priced almost perfectly between Kuhmos VRs and Michelins Pilot Sport Cups. Our Colorado track season is not over yet and this year's VRs are getting pretty thin! Anybody tried the Avons?

I saw the Avons looked to have a very narrow size range; they probably didn't have German cars in mind. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.jsp?make=Avon&model=Tech+R

In my case Thom, the hapless world of 15'' rims that I live in, for my narrow body '72, 205/50 15 the AVON folks have such a tire as do Kuhmo. The AVONs look even more interesting in the rain than the Kuhmos. We get afternoon summer showers here in Colorado like clockwork, so the drive home (not a trailer boy am I) might be even more interesting... Pilot Sport Cups are the other alternative ($$$).
