Don't forget the plywwod for the jack to sit on.
Paul, I've also thought of having a pouch made out of leather - not hard to do here - as you might imagine there are lots of leather workers around town. One for every VW Bus... Hazet and Stahlwille make high quality tools. Maybe PAG asked for lower quality... sure they aren't shiny like Snap-Off, but... Jerry Woods described an engine operation where Snap-Off usually did just that, but the German tools never did (the hex tools - 5 and 8 mm?? can't remember). I've broken Snap_Off and had friends do so as well. I like them better than other brands (partly cause the bonus points on my credit car will get me free tools) but I don't think they are head and shoulders above the factory tools. |
For your info, I pay'd about $50 for a complete toolkit here in Europe, might be worthwhile to check out ebay.de (Germany) since many will ship worldwide.

Running a dismantler business isn't cheap. You go rent that space in the Bay Area and feed about 10 guys to do the work. Then good luck worrying about the EPA and local rules.... I guarantee you won't be able to sell stuff for swap meet prices either. You need to give them a break, they make an honest living. Parts Heaven has always come through for me and all my pals. They are an excellent bunch of people that are friendly and very helpful. They will work with you to find even the smallest used parts on which they make only a few bucks. I can't tell you how many little bits and pieces I have gotten from them that are NLA. We'd be lost without honest, quality dismantlers that specialize in our cars. Cheers, George |

agreeing with the necessity of dismantlers, they do charge a premium though. |
