oooohh, prepare to be flamed on this one. There was a thread a few weeks ago on this. I've seen Hamann (sp?) do a 996 with some kind of swing up door like that. Also there was a picture of some dude and his Boxster with the same style doors.

why would you want a 911 to look like rice? Theres a difference one is a real race car and the other has a fart muffler to make it sound like the one....are you confused to which is which?

several bodies have done it
and were rightly flamed, it's nasty, rice, and serves no peropose other than looking like a wannabe fast and furious Vin Diesel

it goes right up there in the Gemballa kit to turn your Porsche 944 into a ferrari style...

Yup, on VW's too. Someone went to a lot of trouble to design a kit to make difficult to get in an out of the car...

If you want lamborghini doors, buy a lamborghini.

Seriously though, I do not know of a kit being sold. You probably have to bring the car to a place that specializes in custom conversions.

What I always wondered is if the 911 would look cool if you'd bolt the seats to the floor boards and chop about 3" off the roof? Custom rod style. Anyone can do a photoshop?

Cheers, George

I caught my Wife watching "Pimp My Ride" the other day and they put these doors on a Civic.

The BMW thread linked above got me thinking, maybe we could do this to all four doors on my Wife's 5 series wagon! I wonder if it would make it hard to get the baby seat in?!?

Ifin yer rilly gunna do this to a 911 do it to a 996 or some poor midyear car that's already been desicrated with a Gemballa kit.

That's not bad at all! Now put it in the weeds, put some cool wheels, delete the door handles and tint the windows!

You know, I had looked at some racing 911s next to full blown race kit cars at the track last weekend. The 911 roof is so high, compared to a kit car. I was wondering then, if one couldn't chop the roof for better aerodynamics and lower center of gravity. With a non sunroof car and a race seat on the floor, one can probably live with 3-5" less!

I think it was a '912 actually. it had shaved rain rails too.

my '912 has moons.. a guy on the 912 board named mike has a 356 with moons...

I kinda like it. This would be a great mod for a mid-year 911 track car, along with turbo flares. I wouldn't do this to an early car.

With the Kirkey seat i just put in my car, I could easily shave 3" off the roof.

Yeah, it belonged to a guy with the last name of Morales. He lived in Highland I think. I talked to him about the chop and he said it was done old school style with lead. It lasted a few years before it started cracking. He said that most people did not realize it had been chopped.

He cut the top off and now it is a cab.

There is a guy in the PCA with a 993 GTII evo bodied single turbo race car with a chopped down roof. I saw him running at out Fontana and his car was very quick, looked so dfferent from the other Porsches when they were in a pack. The car is white with yellow colored bumpers I think. There is a man here in Pasadena with a 964 speedster with a fiberglass hardtop in primer black on a black car. That thing looks mean. I always thought it would be fun to take a targa and chop down the windshield to about the height of the windscreen's that were on the spyders and put a tonnaeu cover over the back after the rear glass was taken off.

But lambo doors??? Why not go all out and get the same kind of door action that the Koenigsegg has, they pop outward about 3 inches, then rotate forward and up through 90 degrees.
