dual muffler cut-outs

How did you cut the rear valance for the dual muffler setup?
Anyone have a secret method so I will not have to repaint the entire panel??

I measured about ten times and then cut with tin snips. The paint remained in good shape. I touched up the edge to prevent rust. Typically the valence gets a lot or rock hits and chips anyway. For about $20 you can buy a spray can of lacquer touch-up and respray the whole thing.

I have an all original paint ....no chips car and really want to hear the 3.2 sing.
I will probably get a ghl single in/out set-up to suffice.

Take a piece of cardboard and make a template of the drivers side opening, flip it and use it to mark the area where you need to cut the right side. I used a dremel to cut, this worked fine for me.

Good luck.

I'll second that - mine had a major curb rash - so I just cut out the area with the curb rash... So it wasn't an exact match, but I am fine with it...

I did this and posted a number of times on this topic. Do a search.

Sure..a template for the right side is nice, but I would go a bit further for that "factory" look.

Two things...
1.) I would cut the right side hole ever-so-slightly smaller, and use a padded vice-grip to create a small "edge lip" ...like a fender lip to give it a bit more visual depth and strengh. Touch up with paint.
2.) Cut the hole in such a way so that ( from a car's side view) the right-hand hole has a 45 degree "front" edge on the valence...don't just cut a hole and leave-off the front edge of the "hole". Why? Thr right side rocker panel behind the rear wheel ends at a right angle ( where the normal valence "slides under" in an accident), whereas the left original rocker is sloped in a 45 degree angle. Unless you you go the RUF route by completelely replacing the right side rocker with a new one with the appropriate slope...this is the next best thing to give it the "detail" a Porsche deserves. This way , both sides match ( sort-of) with similar 45 degree front-edges of the hole.

NYC

A NYC curb took care of it for me....

But then I used tin snips to clean it up as suggested earlier. It is very soft metal...

There's a good video on the Fabspeed website where they explain how they do it.

Hope that helps,

Exclamation Dual cutout

Ken,
I too would suggest a dremmel. As that is how I did mine.
Any way which you choose to cut it make sure that tape off te area with masking (painters) tape first to minimize (eliminate) any damage to the paint. Cutting bare bumper/valance will most certainly chip.
Good Luck.
