Cool New seats / Recaro upgrade pictures

I got real sick of the standard driver's seat.

Despite the '70s porno tartan, I needed to update - damn the originality!

So I had the passenger seat and my new driver's seat re-trimmed in leather.

Here's my new Recaro SR driver's seat.

The stock seat rails bolt right up to the Recaro base. Perfect fit!

Hard to see, but they have perforated leather centre inserts.

I had a brake-fluid leak (faulty master cylinder) when I bought the car. The end result was that the carpets turned from black to a greeny-grey/black. While the seats were out, I dyed the carpet (and throw mats) black - easy job. Spray the dye on, brush it in with a stiff fingerbrush. Literally one hour of work (plus an overnight curing/drying period) for a spectacular result.

Those seats look really cool Adam.

Seat restoration is next on my list of things to do, as my driver’s seat has a few rips in the seam and is a bit squashed.

Where did you get them done? I was going to get the perforated leather also.

Do you mind if I ask what they charge per seat?

It’s definitely an improvement on the tartan.

Hey Simon. I had them trimmed by a West Heidelberg trimmer. I'll PM you their details.

It only cost me $500 to get both done in leather. Smells great, too!

Talking

$500 for both sounds a great deal, as I was quoted $400 per seat.

Nothing like fresh leather, I have vinyl which is really bad in summer as you sweat on it.

If you could PM me that would be fantastic!

Who put you on to that company?

Was it just from the phone book?

Do you know if they do carpet also?

Looks great. How do you like the feel of the Recaro? I've heard good things about them. When the time comes, I think I'd consider some Recaros or Sparcos. If the Recaro bolts right up though, that might be a deal breaker!

Adam,
Looks terrific. I like the looks of black leather but opted for the Recaro SRDs in fabric for "breathability". Do you think the perforated leather breaths well enough to minimize sweating?

Funny, on your right hand drive car Porsche still gave you a left hand drive glove box. The latch is quite a reach, isn't it?

You bet! Just like the fuel release...

I've gotta goto the passenger's door to pop the decklid, too.

The passenger's seat looks like it's been filched from a 993!

This trimmer is seriously good.

VHT Carpet & Vinyl dye in Satin Black. They make all tints (Gloss, Matte etc) and many colours. I had the seats out already, but I only dyed my mats, the fixed (side) sections of the carpet were A-ok and didn't need any dye. I imagine you could do it in-car, but the overspray would get on everything. I wouldn't recommend it...
