Recaro Sport Seat Restoration Project Pics....Kewl!!

Hi all,

I'm the guy that recently bought a pair of totally trashed Recaro Sport Seats from a fellow Pelican for 1400.00$....Autos Intl is redoing them, and I am documenting their progress.....So first is the image of the seats 3 weeks ago, followed by pictures of their current state....... www.autosintl.com also do dashes (in leather if you want) so I also posted a leather dash from some guy's 81 SC they are doing........BTW...the tab from AutosIntl comes to $2000.00.....so my sportseats will come to 3400.00.....I know. I'm nuts .....but I got exactly what I wanted....and they are perfect.......The ebay sportseats are up to 3250.00.....and no where near the condition of my restored ones....

seats after purchase

finished bottoms with corduroy centers and perforated leather side bolsters

finished immaculate base

tops in current state (notice the combo of old and new foam)

some guy's leather dash redone..awesome....and they don't take 6 months like "Just Dashes"

Now just get some corduroy bellbottoms and you can make that cool sound of corduroy against corduroy when you get in and out.

Hey, I miss those pants...the ones made by Levi. I bought a "stash" of them when a men's clothing store went out of biz here. Oh, several decades ago. Alas, the "stash" lasted only a few years. Man, they were comfortable! SVK? I'll never knock the skills of autos international...but you gotta realize that until "just dashes" came along, there was NO WAY to repair one of the all foam and plastic with speaker cut-out original dashs, other than to leather cover it...that technique has been around for years. REMANUFACTURING the factory plastic dash is the trick. So far, it seems that "just dashes" are the only ones with the equipment investment and the skill to do this...Leather looks cool, but, well,...it looks cool.

oh yeah...very nice! your significant other must be the jealous one for you spending so much money on your ass and not hers , and the passenger one doesn't count towards her benefit. good show svonkampen - your car is quickly becoming very popular with your cool mods.

NOW you got it??? I've only posted it, several times.. My car has what Porsche called a "full leather interior". The dash? It was NOT leather...plastic, the same as a 911T. To cover that in lleather, once it cracks, is relatively easy. To repair it to "as original" specs is something else...Another way to put it? Seats are easier to do than the dash...here's a pic of the uncracked original dash in a "full leather interior" car...

And here is a pic of a car's interior where the dash has been "redone" in leather...hard to see the difference unless you look closely, I know. Your seats? Yep! They DO look "kewl"...you have every right to be proud of them.
