Unhappy Weather Seal Installation Ques--Help!

I am in the process of installing the rubber weather seal on the windshield of an 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Cabriolet (rubber seal between the convertible top and the leading edge of the doors). When I purchased the seal a footnote indicated that I also should get a right and left “transition piece” (911.531.711/2.40) and two “retention pins” (999.703.366.40). I’ve removed the old rubber, however, there weren’t any old transition pieces or retention pins in sight and it is not obvious how or where to position them in the new installation.

I would greatly appreciate any information on how to properly install these things. I think if Porsche designed them in then they must serve a useful purpose.

Thanks very much!
Bill

I have located where these "transition pieces" go. They are on the door frame and not attached to the weatherstrip. Thanks.
