Help!!! Front Bonnet Height Adjusting

Tried to refit the complete front end today as a final trial before painting. Discovered a problem with the front bonnet - How is it's height adjusted to fit in with the windscreen scuttle panel?
I'm cannot remember if I removed any shims between the bonnet and hinge.
To get the bonnet lying at the correct height - I had to fit a couple of washers to act as spacers- raising the bonnet to tie in with scuttle panel.
Could someone have a look and see whats fitted to their cars?
Heres where I had to fit the washers.

Any advice would be more than helpful - the paint is being applied (hopefully) on Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rob, mine were just flat washers, same color finish as your rectangular shims. Use as many as you need to line up the panels.

Superb Jim - thanks for that.
I can sleep easy tonight knowing its shimed - spend loads of time today head scratching!

The factory shop manuals describe this shimming procedure for aligning the bonnet and engine lid, making it official. :)

Normally, you sould be able to adjust the front lid without shims, only by moving the hinges at their attachment to the shell. Hard to reach, but correct. both my 930 and RS (never tinkered with) are without shims.

George - The hinge looks pretty hard to get to - I think I will head back down the shim method for now. The bonnet fitted pretty well prior to removal - but when removing panels, the doors, engine lid and bonnet all used shims and I just forgot the bonnet had a couple fitted. All the parts were placed in a box and its now a case of finding out what went where.
Jim - I have a Bentley manual but not the factory manual - I will look through the bentley manual to see it mentions the procedure.
Cheers

georgeK is correct, the three bolts on the lower part of the hinge can pivot the entire hinge assembly, and get the hieght requirements. Although this was much easier to do when the dash pad and gastank were not yet installed in the build process. Shimming by spacer is an acceptable alternative.
