New Rear Wheels - Check These Out!

I finally broke down after experimenting with tire spacers and bought a pair of used 8" Fuchs for the rear. The plan is to move my 7's to the front - check these out! I have to keep going out to the garage and looking at these. Thanks much to '70 Fasty (aka Alex Magro, fellow Pelican) for fixing me up. They are refinished polished 8's that look beter than I could have hoped. Now I will need to give my 7's a good polishing. I'm not sure I can match the lustre of the new/used 8's.

Now I have to go out and get some new rubber. This is proving more challenging than I had hoped given the limited availablility of 245/45 16's. Was hoping to get the Yoko AVS-100's, but no word on when they will be available? Also considered the Michelin Pilot Cup's but they are backordered as well?? May have to go w/ Bridgestone S03's - more than I wanted to spend but I suspect I will not be disappointed.

Any lessons learned appreciated. Thanks

They are so shiny they remind me of the Cragars that were used on the 70's muscle cars.

They were afraid to even quote me a date? They tried to coax me into the Avon Tech M-500's, but these are too unknown to me at this time? I'll give it another week or so and see what they say then.

The Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s are available in the size you're looking for, but I know there is some controversy surrounding this tire. I've had nothing but good luck with them.

How about Toyo Proxes T1-S? I ran into the same wall on ES100s & could not wait, so I ordered T1-S's. Do a search, everybody says very nice things about them. Toyo are replacing them with T1-R with a modified tread pattern a little later this year. But the S pattern looks so cool.

Wait for the ES100's, they're worth it. The S03's have a more rounded sidewall and won't appear to fill out the wheel well, while the yoko's have a squarer sppearance. If you're goung to run the 225's up front on the 7's don't forget to roll the fenders.

Or you could stick with 205s and 225s. Nice wheels.

GettinHeadStuds : yes

Actually for performance it would be better to stick with the 205/225.

Vance:
I love my SO3s and I went for the 225/45s in front with the245/45s in the back. The stick great at the track but are expensive.

Pete - Do you have a pic of your car with the 225's on the front? I took my 7's w/ 225's off th eback and put them on teh front and it looked strange because they seemed to stick out so far? Maybe it was becasue I was just not used to it? I am leaning to the 205's in the front. Are yours 225/45's or 225/50's?

Vance, I have 225/45/16 in the front and 245/45/16 in the back. The lower profile of the 225/45 in the front gives me a little more clearance from the fender lip and the lower profile tire looks more appropriate with the big 245s in the back. Note that the 225 and 245 SO3s are nearly the same width less than 1/2 an inch difference.

I don't have a picture of them but 89911 has the same setup and I know I've seen pictures of it with 16 fuchs on this BBS

FYI - My front fender lips are slightly rolled and I've only had the passenger front rub during a DE when I had a 250+ instructor next to me.

Nice looking fuchs - I had the same problem with the ES100's and availability. I chose instead the AVS sports - 225/50/16's and 245/45/16's.

The next set of fronts I get - I will probably go with the 225/45's just so I can lower the car a little more.

I am very satisfied with the tires - they have excellent grip and are very predictable. They also make lots of noise right before they let go -
