G'Day all,
Just thought I would give all those SC owners out there a reminder to submit your details and get your car on the Global register, at http://www.adelgigs.com/911scregistry.shtml . At present there are nearly 300 cars registered. It would be great to line up a couple of cars with sequential VIN numbers, and just imagine them rolling of the line 25 years ago - yeah yeah what ever turns you on. Anyway submit your details and be part of it.

Brad Browns SC and mine are 82 cars apart in production, and they live in the same county now.
They might have come over on the same ship? Does anybody know how many they built in a day back in 1980? Last edited by Bob's Flat-Six; 07-25-2004 at 06:58 PM.. |

In the Porsche 911 Red book, it shows 9,943 911's were made for model year 1980, this included the Turbo. Of that number 4,272 were made for the US market. This was about twice the number produced per model year 1978 and 79 respectively.
I'm not sure how many days a year they were in production. If they shut down for holidays and weekends lets say you have 250 days, that would be less than #40- 911's in a day in 1980. Not a lot of cars, and I wonder how many are still on the road in one form or another? ![]() |

Thanks guys - 21 new cars to be included, which will be updated on the site later today.
It would be great to get more European cars included - anyone got any ideas which BBS or email lists they hang out on ?

Bob's Flat Six,
I am not positive about this, but I think I read somewhere that approx 85% of all Pcars ever built are still on the road. I know...sounds incredibly high. Anyone else ever hear this?

Bob's Flat Six,
My car is only 2 cars apart in production from Brad Brown!! Mine came off the line first at #2227 for 1980. I'll try to track him down and shoot him an email.

Bob's flat six, I read somewhere (so it must be correct) that Porsche has the highest percentage of cars produced, still on the road.
The SC is still parked up in the garage after, err, breaking down along the motorway the other week, so I can't get out to read and register the VIN. But I will. And I'll also register the spare parts car as there isn't much wrong with it other than needing a new body, hee hee.
