Photos from 7/24 AutoX Redwood Region

Lots of fun on Saturday. Heavy marine layer early in the morn, overcast by the time we started, and sunny all afternoon. This is very roughly how the track was setup. It was ladies day and the idea was to make the track non-confusing.



This is most of run group B in turn 5a. See the blue arrow above, that's where I was shooting. It's cool to see all of the different lines.



Note middle picture of 3rd row (tire off the ground!) Also note first picture in 3rd to last row. That lap wasn't the best time

I have a bunch more of cars exiting the infield section. I'll post those later.

I got someone to take my picture, but he didn't make good use of the zoom, so here I am in all my fuzziness.

Now that I see this picture I realize what a bad line I was taking through this corner. It was right after the start/finish line. I should have approached it slower and further outside and could have gotten full on the throttle 20-30 feet earlier! Of course then I would have been well over 2nd gear redline before the braking point.


I've never seen a more tail happy 928.

I know that Jack Olsen is associated with this type of self portrait. I was making these years before I saw Jack doing it (in fact the first time I did this there was a lot less forehead showing!). I'm not saying he copied me, just that I'm not copying him.

Larry Robison in the Green 911 #71 above with a 35.987. He frequently has best time. My best was 39.427.
