"Baggy" gearbox/linkage any quick fix ideas?
is there a quick remedy to tighten up the play in a baggy gearbox. not really the gearbox but the play in the lever. seems like it should be way tighter. is it the linkage? new bushes???
thanks

Yes and yes. Note that the shifter is not gated nor spring loaded, so it will always have that sloppy feel to it. The remedy to that is to replace the whole shifter assembly with a gated one such as the wevo shifter. But new bushings and linkage are the place to start.
First, read this tech article: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_shifting_improvements/911_shifting_improvements.htm Then, spend 22 bucks... http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911E/POR_911E_Tshift_pg1.htm#item0 Aurel

WEVO are nice - really nice, but expensive.
Replacing the bush at the bottom of the shift lever, the one along the shift rod, and maybe the coupling will make it fell 158 times better.
