Electrical people...whats wrong (pics)

This is the Central Locking Module which I pulled from the luggage compartment. I have the typical "my door locks work when they choose to, but more often than not they dont" problem, and replacing this part will probably fix that problem, but I am prepared to have someone do some soldering to save me $$...furthermore where would I buy this piece from if I did infact wish to replace it??

Here's the pics, I dont know much about this stuff so I dont know what would be busted or if there is anything that needs to be resoldered, so take a look and help me out, thanks!

-Matt

Matt,

Can't tell much from those pics...

What we need is a closeup of the solder side of the board! Can you put the board on a scanner, and orient the board just like a piece of paper ... narrow accross and long side down the page? The ideal size for posting would be 800 pixels wide ... we need maximum resolution on those solder joints!

What is the part number on those relays ... I have a set of 10 new surplus relays that are IDENTICAL ... right down to a tiny part number on the end plate ... A1005-A503 !!!

clean up the circuit board with meths or switch cleaner and a cloth (has there been water damage? looking at the 2nd and 3rd pics)
look for fine cracks in the solder side (dry joints) and resolder them.

In pics 2, 3, and 6, it looks like there's significant damage to the board -- maybe the pics are no good, but it looks like there's a chunk of the board that got chewed on by a mouse, or something. Is that true, or is it just a trick of light?

Better pics are a must! From what I can see, it does look like water damage. If you're system works, albeit intermittently, you may be in luck. Some careful cleaning, followed by re-flowing of the affected solder joints may yield successful results. Follow Warren's suggestions on getting some close up pics.

that gunk on the board that looks like a mouse chewed it actually looks from here like rust build up of some sort, the board itself is in good shape a guess (not cracked or bent or anything...)

Me thinks Ill clean it well and then test it out, come to think of it, it really doesnt appear that any of the connections are really broken or cracked but ill see if I can get some higher res pics on here

thanks a mil

fwiw, on marine pc boards that go kaput my first attack is a dish washer, if applicable, then 2 days of drying. salt air can be a pia. It works great on depth recorders.
