Spring Plates Re-Plated - pics
Had to share these with everyone since I am so proud of myself. Check these out - all done for only $60 - and it is real cadmium plating - just like they came from the factory!
Before ... After ...

Looks Great,
Who did the plating? I've got a whole mess of stuff that I was going to have yellow zinc'd. Yours looks tons better.

Looks great - I guess some platers still do Cd work near you -- Cleveburg (home of my alma mater)? Or near Erie?
I thought about doing this, but decided they'd just get dirty again. For $60 tho, I would have gone for it. |

I found a couple places around NE Ohio that do cad - originally thought I was going to have to go the yellow zinc route. I had these done at Century Plating in Euclid. Did a great job. I updated my t-bars two Winters ago and cleaned the spring plates up so well I took the finish off and they started rusting - so I had to do domething. Not sure I could recognize the difference between cad and yellow zinc?

Nice job, wish I had done it to my pieces.
FYI- When you get high strength steel plated you might want to ask them to bake it for hydrogen embrittlement, it is a mil-spec requirement for aerospace and just a little cheap insurance. In my 20+ years in aerospace (I am getting old) I only saw a couple things break that were attributed to embrittlement but why take the chance.
