John Walker's magical hand (heater duct)

Hello,
I wanted to take a moment to share with Pelicanites the great work John Walker did on my left side heater duct. I needed it modified to fit behind a 3.2 dizzy for the retro heater set-up. It's not often I recieve something that really surprises me workmanship wise; especially a modified part.
John has really impressed me with this.
Regards,
J.P.
Ps. I don't mean any disrespect to any of the other very talented craftsmen that grace this list; this just happens to be my first modified/custom fab. part for the 911.

I know how very fortunate I am to have John as my mechanic. He's a fab guy at heart, always playing with sheet metal and stuff but I'm not fabbing anything so I do not use his fab skills much. The thing I like best about John, for my selfish purposes, is that he's a real, down-to-earth gearhead guy. He's not a girly-man when it comes to mechanical stuff. Or anything else for that matter. I came to his shop one day to chat briefly and he'd just placed a 911 engine onto the stand. In five minutes (sometimes Superman exaggerates but I think it was around 5 minutes) he had the valve and chain covers off, the chains, the cam thrust plates, the tensioners, the chain housings, the cams, the cam housings, the heads and the cylinders off that engine. Nuts and washers flew. He knows when to slow down and take extraordinary care, and he also knows what stuff guys do that is unnecessary. He thinks these 911s are machines and not jewelry. He's right about that. He also thinks these 911s are about the finest, highest-quality vehicles on the road. And of course, he's right about that.

Yeah, he's about the best resource a guy could have for his 911. Aside from Pelican, of course.

i just backdated my SC heat this past weekend and the left side duct did not need nearly that much of a "cutout". i take it the carrera dizzy is bigger? my work was with a torch and ballpeen hammer. thankfully the distributer hides the carnage.

nice work there though by mr walker.

Hi Raceman,
I found the duct on eBay @ $25-30. Dan Petchel from New Jersey has some stock; both sides. http://www.carsinc-nj.com
