A place to rebuild Zenith Carbs

I've tried rebuilding zenith carbs myself, can't get them right, getting alot of popping back thru the tops and some of my jets aren't going and just finally want them right.

Anyone one know of anywhere that really knows these carbs inside out that i could ship or bring these to? I'm in suburban Minneapolis right now, but am willing to ship the carbs out to a good reputible shop.

I would like to try this route before i go and drop a bundle on webers. Also if anyone would want these carbs?? i'm willing to trade or sell, they work just need tuning that i don't know how to do.

You can call Matt at Eurometrix and see if he can do anything to help. Are your throttle shafts tight? To put differently, if you wiggle the shafts at idle, does the idle change at all?

is there anywhere that will rebuild these for less than 700-750??? plus a big phat bump-a-lumper

You can do them yourself. The folks on the BBS will be happy to help and the rebuild kit isn't that much. The key thing is to judge the condition of the bodies. If the shafts or the bushings are worn, no amount of rebuilds will solve the problem unless you fix those specific issues.

i rebuilt them right away when i got the car but i really didn't look for things being worn out. so basically its new stuff or have them sent out to be rebuilt again with new hardware.

Bizzump! What all is included in the "pelican" rebuild kits for the Zenith 40 TIN carb? I didn't originally buy my kits from pelican (sorry) and i certainly didn't pay 68$ per side. Is the pelican kit more comprehensive?

Are the above listed sources the place to go for NEW main jets or other parts?

You might just do a price comparison with Stoddards. When I bought kits, they were more like $49. The rebuild is the easy part. Sounds like you need someone to tune them on the engine by setting the mixtures, etc.

excuse dumb question.. Does Zeniths have same style cross shaft linkage as Webers ?

anyone else rebuilt them, i'm gonna tear them down AGAIN and see if there is anything worn out inside, make sure the jets are flowing and etc.

so if there are any Zenith Carb Experts on the forum, please speak up. ANY and ALL advice is welcome and will be greatly appreciated.

if the throttle valve shafts are tight with the housing, the prob is your adjustment, maybe. The cross shaft gets adjusted at it's carb mounting to syncro them to each other. If it's not correct your symptoms sounds like the results.

do you have info on initial setup adjustments?
