My $.02: If track only, red would be ok. I'd stay with black if you use the car for street driving too (less ricey).

Cheers!

There was a thread recently about the safety issues surrounding certain color seat belts. Do a search as the wrong choice could prove to be fatal.

Depends greatly on the suit. If you are wearing red suit, black shirt and red tie -- then defintely, red seat belts. You must co--or--dinate!!!!

I have red in mine! They look cool and coordinate nicely with the red door pulls on my RS door panels.

If red is rice, then I guess all those 993s and 996s running around with red belts are rice whatever. Do what you want, I think red would look great. Oh yeah, and if you find a place that sells the red for our cars, please let us know

Mike,
The best and best looking belts are Team Tech 6 point.
Black with red pull downs, would look great in your car.
Team Tech is hard core race equip, cam lock, 3"heavy duty
straps. I have 1 set for driver seat, black with red pulls if
your interested. It was in my GT-2 race car for a short time.

Amir, call these guys:

http://www.peparts.com/

A new pair of red belts is going to run $350. They have them in Yellow and Blue also, like the RSA's. They can usually re-web your belts in any of these colors for less.

Sherman, thanks. I'll bookmark that, $350 isn't too bad.

You guys tell me if I really "need" new belts or not. My 1986 seatbelts are original, and i question the integrity of the (almost) 20 yr old webbing/straps when called upon in an emergency (ie will they snap?)
Also, the recoil/return is mildly weak, and i need to somewhat 'help' the belt back into place after i unstrap.

So do i really need new belts?

So 993 belts/recepticles etc are direct replacement on earlier cars too? If so, that'll widen my search if i decide to replace mine. What about 996?

Lastly how 'bout some pics of the red belts/blk interior

Thanks for your opinion/help
Mike

Mike, first, new belts are probably not necessary from a strength perspective. I put new belts in because the spring was so weak on my driver's side, I did think it was a safety liability. Car has 229K miles on the belts, so their useful life was over. I got red because the opportunity presented itself, and am very glad it did.

Second, 993 belts are not a direct replacement. The peg that ensures vertical stability (for lack of a better term) in conjunction with the bolt is a cm higher and a few mm wider. You will need to drill a new hole in the mounting plate. easy job, but measure 3 times, drill once. Use a titanium bit and very low RPM.

Third, can't resist posting pics of my car...
