Your Thoughts On This 97 993 With Aero Kit???????

Hello all, I think i found a pretty good deal on a 97 993 @ $41,900 with 49k miles, but it has a couple of storys (dont they all) #1 there is a 9k mile discrepancy on the car fax? of course owener says it was misread? the other is the rear bumper has been painted? and o ya no records? the car had 2 oweners and is in mint condition. My first thought is i'm buying a car with 60k miles and how hard will it be exiting from this car with this discrepancy? @ 60k miles i need the major servise done, how costly is this? the bumper dont bother me as much because chit happings, one last question, how much do you thing the car will depreciate in 5 years? and is it a good deal? I have a 88 930 right now that seems like it holds it value and will pretty much get all my money back. Thanks Bob

That's not that great a deal, esp. with the issues it has. A friend of mine just bought a 95 with 44k miles, aero kit and mint condition for 30K (which was a great deal). Only knock on his is that it is a Tiptronic, which I understand are harder to sell. In 5 years my guess is it will probably be worth 15-18k, and should never drop below about 12k. I like the silver and aero kit. If you could get it for about 35k it would be a good deal.

I'm sorry it's a 4S

30k is a great deal

15-18k in 5 years WOW seems low

My friend's is a C2, and the 4's are of course worth more.

Get the VIN and see if a local Porsche dealer will let you see the service records or perhaps verify the history.

Send a message via AIM to mikester
A mileage discrepency is bad and will make it hard for you to sell in the future.

There's a guy here in Omaha selling a 96 993 with 60K miles and an aero kit for $30K. It has PSS9 shocks and is "chipped", whatever that means. I drove it - it is one mean car that handles superbly. Seemed like a pretty good deal to me, but I can't afford it right now. If you're interested, he's got it advertised on the PCA site, or you can mail me and I'll send you his info.

Your PM was answered. Here's a pic of the car:

EDIT: Also, it's a 95 and not a 96. It does have the wiring harness fix.

95 into 96.

If it is a 4S, the price is good (assuming the car is straight/tight). In general, there isn't that much of a difference between C2 and C4 (and if anything, C4 can go for less money used as there is more to go wrong), but the S part is what jacks up the price/value.

What does the S stand for?

You wish! If 993's fall to $12K, what will 964s go for, $7K? How about Carreras, $4-6K? I don't think so.

Hey Max, I'll buy your S in 5 years. I'll pay a premium and give you $13.5K! I'll even pay you now!

Yeah -- I think it'll take more like ten years before 993s fall to $15k.

Chris.

Chris, I don't think a nice 993 will ever hit $15K. Just look at nice Carreras. It is hard to find a nice one for $15K. Some cars will always have a nice "floor".

Max, my car will have more than $19K in mods by then!

And this is such a good deal? The car is 3 years older and a less powerfull 95. But the biggest problem is the tiptronic. Good luck selling these. This is why he got it cheap to begin with. All comparisons are out when those enter the picture.
