Polished Fuchs vs Black Spokes

It is my understanding that the 80's SC's and Carreras came with
OEM Fuchs with blacked out spokes. Many people seem to prefer
wheels with polished spokes. I used to prefer the polished spokes
but now I'm not so sure. I'd be interested in what the consensus
is on this point. Hence the poll...

If you think the answer depends on the color of the car,
which I do to some extent, assume the car color is Guards Red...

You left the option of black spokes and anodized rims. Polished looks too "chromy" to me. But after a polished wheel dulls a little, it starts to look great, IMO.

Also, It depends on the color car.

I love polished rims, but my car is silver, and they don't look right. Anodized fits the car better. IMHO

i prefer polished spokes and outer rim with anodized webs, or fully blacked out with no polish or anodizing at all.

To me it all depends on the color of the car.. Black cars work well with polished spokes and polished rims.. I like how my Yellow car looks with Black spokes and polished rims

I've seen polished spokes and rims with Guards Red inserts - sharp. I think both ways look good on red cars - the factory - and polished... That's one of those colors that looks great either way.

I like the Hot Wheels look!

As originally delivered (stock and looking dated, in my opinion)

Thanks Fenderguy!

I agree. I like the black wheels on your yellow car. In fact I am using a larger version this photo as wallpaper on my monitor now:

I like the polished paddles on my black car:

Why is it your car looks so much faster than mine? Must be the duck tail :-)

I like polished and then the background painted the same color as the car.

Why take such a nice wheel and then paint is semi-gloss black? Polished rims look great. Find how many had polished rims and then changed them back to black??

I love the polished spokes, I think it will make my car look more like the 74 it is. It looks too goofy with the blacked out spokes with a narrow body and chrome trim. On a sidenote, was black-out stock for 74? Anyone care to photoshop some polished fuchs on my car (not to hijack the thread)?

Tough call. I really wanted polished spokes (w/painted inserts) when I bought my car and even went as far as to call Al Reed to check his schedule (gotta love living in SoCal). BUT, my OEM black spokes/polished rims are in great shape and the look is really growing on me. Im no longer sure I want to spend the money for the bling factor of polished spokes/black inserts. Now, if my wheels were in bad shape and I had to get them done anyway...Id probably try the polished look.

Either way looks great! (forget about the completely polished look. Yuck!)

Cheers!
Patrick
