"MY" Solvang drive from orange county

Saturday morning came around and the wife and I had no plans for the weekend. The P-car had been running well for a some time and oil was fresh since last change (under 1k miles) so I said "what the heck" " lets drive out to Solvang for some wine and steak"

So off we went, 405 was uneventfull all the way to the 101, the 101 was a fun drive actually with very light traffic. Then on to the 154, "So this is why the Porche guys like this trip?" Fun curvy roads with some short streight's. Even the wife said it was a nice drive, she said she felt like she was ina video game.

We stayed at the Holyday Inn express since everything else was "sold out" checked in and asked the hostess what was the beast steak house in town, she reffered us to "AJ Spur's"

The place is about a mile north, it has alot of western character, some very large stuffed bears and bufalo inside the restaurant.

The Ribeye steak I had was delicious! Probably the best steak I have had this year (outside my back yard grill), my wife had a Filet wraped in bacon (well done ) but it was actually really good too.

Next morning we did some wine tasting and drove back, woohooo! What a hoot, I actually saw somone else with a Porsche on the road and we eneded up rallying for a few miles on the 154. All and all I got to say it was a 9 out of 10 as far as quick getaway road trip.

Strongly recomended for anyone that loves scenic drives and good food!

Great thread. Would be nice to catalog local or regional road trips so others can learn.

There are quite a few worth while trips in my neck of the woods.

Perhaps a forum dedicated to this subject. After all enjoying the car to it's fullest is what it's all about.
