Where does this hole go to ??
This is a question for any of you that have had your A/C evaporator assembly apart or have removed it. I replaced the blower motor on the evaporator fan last week. On the bottom(inlet) side of the evap. coils there is the duct that comes from the area under the passenger floorboard, then there was another hole in the bottom of the evaporator casing. This hole came from the centerline of the car. Am I just stupid, because I couldn't figure out where this duct is coming from? I thought that the A/C system on a 1980 911 was purely a recirc system. I should've taken a pic, but was in a hurry to get everything buttoned up.

It wasn't the drain for condensation, was it?

If you're talking about the small tubular extension (~3/4" diameter) that extends out of the bottom of the housing, it's the condensation drain. It just sticks out the bottom of the car. There should be a foam block that acts as a gasket around it.

It's not the condensation drain. The hole is about 3" in diameter and would be exit the side of the evaporator assembly toward the center of the car. The hole is on the lower half of the case though.

Just giving it a bump.

Oh, THAT hole. That is to draw air from the tunnel/pedal area. Just a way of allowing more air into the evaporator assembly since the hole in the passenger footwell isn't large enough by itself.
