Rocker replacement

Ive been waiting for resto design panels, but might just fab up some temp ones or some sort of structural reinforcement. Does anyone have the specs or info on them? The inner ones are the most important, what porpose do the bubbles in the inner panel serve? Has anyone done this before? What thickness of steel should I use, and when replacing rockers, should I weld in a temporary support connecting the A pillar and B pillar? The rockers are so bad right now that I can barely jack up the car, but have the whole jack area flex inward.

Thanks!
