Fuel injector removal tool
Has anyone used the following tool to remove the fuel injectors from a 911 engine?
Anyone know where to purchase the factory fuel removal tool that you screw on to the injector and yank the injector out? |

ruf, i got that same tool. it worked ok. you see those two slots? i put a wrist strap thru them for added strength. it must have been funny looking. i used a small step stool to gain some elevation. that way i could stand over the injector and not torque my back buy lifting all skewed. then a yell, to tap into my inner "chi", and pop, they came out. in was alot easier with some dow silicone grease. oh, yea leather gloves just in case you rap a knuckle into something harder than, well, your knuckle.

Thanks for the reply Vash
I thought the slot was for placing the end of a flat screw driver to use as a lever to remove the injector. The wrist strap idea sound better since I need to replace the injector on cylinder No. 3 and there is absolutely no room to work in there. |

I have that tool, but I have only used it on VW engines, and in that case sticking a screwdriver in one of the slots and levering works great, but I don't know what you would lever against on an 911 manifold. Maybe you could put a block of wood on the cam tower to use as a fulcrum?

An easier and cheaper way..... I assume that we are dealing with CIS type injectors. Find a large metric nut that will thread onto the top of the injector. Then, using a large square shank screwdriver, lever against the engine and the underside of the nut. The injector will "pop" right out! When replacing the injector, be sure to use a generous amount of lube on the O ring. Put the same nut back on the new injector and press straight down with a 1/2" drive extension with a folded up shop rag between your hand and the extension. Piece of cake!
