rear torsion bars

My78 911 was lowered (too much) by the previous owner. I adjusted the ride height eccentric on the spring plates as high as it will go but the car still sits about one inch low in the back. To adjust the torsion bars, do I have to remove the bar and rotate it a tooth then reset the spring plate or can I just pull the torsion bar cover and drop the spring plate down one tooth without actually removing the bars itself? I am trying to get the factory height of 25 inches in rear.

You can do either, but the inner and outer splines are not the same, i.e. the change the ride heights by different degrees. Sometimes you have to change both. I would first just try adjusting the outer spline and hope it hits in the middle of the adjustment on the spring plate.

I remove the lower bolt on the bar cover that the spring plate rests on when lifted. Then disconnect the trailing arm. . Then I put the angle finder on the spring plate to get a reading. Then there is a guide to the amt of lift per degree of spring plate angle. As Kurt said, do the inner/outie different spline act to get what you need. Be prepared for a do over.

so it will probably be hit and miss till I find it. I don't mind a redo as long as I get the desired results. I have a snap on lift so that makes it alot easier to work with,

the most fun is when the redo is 200mi later after it settles. So maybe figure than in to the plate adjuster install setting.
