Support cradle for 3.2L engine with SSIs
I thought this might be useful for those installing this type engine when it has SSIs on it.
The nut on the bolt located the cradle on the jack (a lousey, oil-leaking, poor lifting Snap-Off). The bolts you see sticking up prtrude into the hollows in the SSIs for access to the nuts. These locate the plate and help keep it from slipping. They have double nuts on the other side. The scale gives you an idea of the spacing, but that needs to be measured from your SSIs. You could make a better one from scratch, but this plate was lying around the shop so we just modified it a bit. It's worked well as we hung and removed the engie to check on the adapter plate to mount the 1970 trans to this '86 and put it in a '73 911. Bon appetit! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads3/l1091591221.jpg |
Nice work Randy. I might get out the old Mig welder and make me one of these!
