Just finished Making adjustable spring plates

I just finished converting standard spring plate to adjustable thanks to Zekes parts. Man It was easy and they are heading off to the platers. They did take a few hours but will be well worth it. We could make these pretty easy if some one could make the spline portion. The rest could all be laser cut and and sell for half what weltmeister sells for. I will post pics if intrested in pics!! anyhow worked pretty good

I'd like to see the pics.

Could some sort of catalog length-of-spline section be adapted? I don't know if that exists (I would think it might), but that would save someone from machining/broaching splines. Just a thought ...

I'd like to see a picture of what you came up with. I didn't understand Zeke's ad back when it ran, and I don't understand it now. :D

I will post pics this weekend probably friday. I won't be home until late tonight. Basically What I received for parts were 1Complete adjustable spring plate(weltmeister) and 1 adjuster portion for the other side. 1 complete set of new bushings, 2 used factory spring plates. I cut the factory spring plates apart so that all I had was plate portion. I then cut 2 peices of 3/4X3/4 1 inch long and drilled out in the center and taped it 1/2x20unf just as the weltmeister one was. Then got some 2"tube .120 wall DOM and cut that 1 3/4 just as the weltmeister. Then fpund center of all items used a llot of squares etc and that was it. Now to get them plated.. The complete weltmeister plate was bent so thats why I made 2 new ones. If we could find spline in length we could be onto something!

Does Weltmeister have a patent on this design? If so it may prevent one from making and selling cheaply.

All you have to do even if they do is change the overall appearance! that could be easliy done. But that is a good point. we should look

Ben, Nothing mentioned on their website...I'm pretty sure they'd have to mark the part with the number.

Can't wait to see your fabrication work.

Just looked on there site and I saw nothing regarding patents. Interesting

Just dropped the plates off at the platers. They are charging 20 bucks and they will be done Tuesday. So no pics yet
